i didn't like the software and the uninstall went south.
i've been able to clean almost all of it out of the registry and such. how do i access the recycle bin to delete the remnants of norton. is repair feasible without reloading windows?? |

1. Right Click on the Recycle BIn Icon and select Properties.
2. Select the tab label Recycle Bin (I believe it is called that) and put a checkmark in Standard Recycle Bin. 3. Go to the Norton Protection Tab and disable the Norton Protection and empty the protected files. 4. Go into the "C" Drive and under Documents and Settings, look in the folders and delete any of the Symantec or Norton folders. 5. Go into the program files on C and delete any symantec or Norton folders. 6. Go to www.jv16.org and download/install/run Regcleaner. 7. In the first screen of Regcleaner, check any Symantec or Norton Entries and then delete them. 8. Under the start-up tab remove any Norton or Symantec entries. 9. Finially under "Tools" select the Registry clean-up and "Do Them All" when the scan completes select all and delete all. |

this will stink.
when i open recycle bin properties, i get 5 tabs with global first with c\d\e\f each for configuring the percent of use per partition. no mention of standard recycle bin or norton protection.[i have deleted the entire norton systemworks 2002 [i think] except for this remaining recycle bin glitch. i can't run the unerase wizard since the programming is gone. it tries to search for it but no cigar. do i really need to reinstall windows to repair this bin problem or is there another way to repair it. |

Then Norton is all gone, so just rename it back to Recycle Bin

i've never tried that before.
how do i go about accessing the program so as to rename it back to recycle bin [and get rid of the menu box for the unerase wizard.] just noticed my mcafee shredder option was replaced by norton. suppose i'll need to run a repair on my mcafee when done to fix that problem. i just hate software with sucky uninstallers. |

Depends on which version of Windows ou are using. If you can't right click it and choose rename. Go to folder options and select to show all files and folders and uncheck hide protetected system files. Go to your C drive and find a folder called Recycler. Your Recycle Bin is actually located there. You may have to do the same for each drive if you use a recycle bin on each drive.

sorry, forgot to mention win 98se. can't you just read my mind???
i tried to search for recycler.* in find files on the whole c drive on my shop pc [also win98se] i'm using right now and it ended with no results. also when i entered recycle bin and opened the file tab, rename is unavailable. there must be some way to access the program and change the norton influence short of a reinstall? |
