Upgrade to XP PRO
I purchased a new Hp Pavilion and it came with XP HOME installed. I received a good price on the upgrade to XP PRO so I purchased that and want to upgrade to to the PRO version. When I start the install to XP PRO I feceive a message that the install can not continue as I have an old video driver and it has to be upgraded. The message in part states:
"NVIDIAAGP FILTER DRIVER IS OUT OF DATE AND TO CONTACT NVIDIA NFORCE for the latest driver." I have done that and downloaded the latest update from NVIDIA and installed it on my ststem. When I try to do the upgrade again I recv the same error message. Can you someone tell me what driver I have to download and where and how to install it inorder to upgrade the OS on my brand new HP? tks ChEERS len

What it is after are the Nforce chipset drivers. Not a video driver. Either way you should be able to ignore the message and continue the install and apply the driver afterwards. If not here are the chipset drivers.

Bailey:
The xp Home works. I am trying to upgrade to XP PRO and that is where I am receiving the error messages. OEM_GUY_2002: During the upgrade install I can not ignore the message. If I remember correctly there is a cancel option and a next and both stop the install process and then go to the box with the finish button and your thrown out of the upgrade install. Or am I missing something? I had already downloaded the drivers/chipset that you have shown in the web address that you have provided. I have installed them to completion and then tried the upgrade again and receive the same error message that it is still looking for the newer Nforce drivers/chipset. Any other suggestions. tks len |

I have never had one give the error you are getting. I would call and ask whoever is supporting the upgrade. If you bought it from HP ask them. If it's a retail version call Microsoft. If it's telling you it won't support a certain chipset driver I would pay attention to it. I'll be it's a common error with an easy solution. The easiest way to find it is to call and ask.
