hard drive problems

I tried booting with the startup disk, but I have no partitions. Anything else that I might try?

are you looking to dual boot or just run win2k only.

if you want to run 2k only, back-up your data then insert your win98 bootdisk delete partions.if there are no partions then insert the 2k disk, change the boot sequence in the bios to boot to cd first then restart it should boot to the 2k cd so you can format and partion and install the os.

Does your BIOS detect the hard drive?

Go into the BIOS and change the Boot Order to having your CD-ROM first..put in the WIN2K CD and reboot the PC..

you can try these two methods..either of them will work fine for you..

A menu will come up with 3 options..press 1 to enter WIN2K setup..you will enter setup, and it will ask you if you want to format the hard drive..hit Y and then once it's done formatting..it will ask you to repartition..hit y and it will repartition for you.

Get a workable WIN98 boot disk(Can be CD or Floopy) boot up into DOS and RUN FDISK..remove any partitions you don't want.

you should be able to boot up into 2k fine..let setup partition and format the drive for you.

let us know if you need anymore help!

hard drive problems

Thanks for all of your help. I tried everything but no luck. My hard drive is not detected by the bios. At least when I start up and go into setup it says none or disabled in set up. I only have one hard drive and somehow I got 98 installed on it. When i boot up with the 98 floppy it says I have a drive E unit 0 and drive F unit 1. Does this help? Also under device manager it says my mass storage device is not working.
