Computer Beeps
Problem still happening
Decided to open up a new tread.. I replaced the RAM, formatted the HD and put in WIN2K....and sometimes I still get those beeps..I think it is 2 1/2 beeps or so..Not sure.. I have no virues, no trojans, and I have removed all spyware..Could it be a weak power supply? AMD Athlon XP 1800+..CPU Temps are at about 95*F, and System Tenps are at about 85*F. I do not experience lockups, freezes, etc during gaming or Windows environment. I am running WIN2K with 256MB of DDR RAM PC2100 from CRUCIAL. My Power Supply isn't a known company, as I cannot find the name for it..perhaps I can put in a bigger power supply to see if anything helps.. The motherboard is an MSI MS-6380E. The beeps would happen in normal WIN2K working environment..CPU work load at about 4%, don't have many processes running in the background..dont have kazaa installed, just kazaalite. first time I hear the beeps after like a week running win2k without any beep hearing...havent added any hardware, havent altered any hardware, havent altered any system settings, etc. Anybody got any ideas? I do not have any IRQ conflicts..I am able to POST fine..Could this be just normal for an MSI motherboard to do this :P |

Hi Markoman01027,
The beeps may not be hardware related...could be a software or OS process that is causing the beeps. Our computers at work run Win2000 and they will beep from the PC speaker (not the add on speakers connected to the sound card) when the system is doing certain things. These are actual beeps and not the chimes or dings associated with normal Windows events. Cricket

Cricket,
I am getting exactly what you are describing..it would beep on doing certain things..I guess it is OS related and the motherboard, since I never experienced this problem with other motherboards..thanks..you relief my stress LOL
