How to fix a VER.DLL file error??

I installed a cd burner (LG) for a client. She had a pre-existing problem. When she boots up, just as her Win 95 is about loaded, an error message says umpty ump about error regarding a VER.DLL file and that she must turn Windows off and restart to repair the file. Well, doing so did not repair the dll.
She thinks this started a few weeks ago when she had problems with her printer and I think she said she reloaded its drivers.

Now she isn't connected to the internet so the error doesn't affect her much. Except when trying to upload things like her burning software. An error box says cannot install due to VER.DLL yada yada yada.

What should I do to fix that error? She currently can't find her Restore Disks.

It's a Packard Bell Pentium 233, with a 6 Gig HDD, 32 MB RAM and um other stuff...

TIA

Chnces are something replaced the Windows version with its own. About all you can do is replace it with one off of a Win95 disc. I can't remember exactly where it is but it is in one of the CAB files,Win95_17.cab I think. It will be called ver.new on the CD. Rename it ver.dll. If it won't let you replace it check the incorrect ones attribute's and see if it is read only. If so change it so you can replace it. It used to be a common problem on 95 computers. It's been a long time but I think all of that is correct.

LOL ... I was right! There is a M$KB article here.
