Hi,
I'm going to install Windows 2000 Pro and I don't know whether to use fat 32 or NTFS file system. I heard that some games don't work if you use NTFS. Is that true? If it is then what kind of games don't work on NTFS? Thank you, Todd |

Todd-
I'm sure someone else has more expertise in this field; however, I haven't had any incompatibility issues with Windows 2000 and games. I can only speak from experience with EA Sports games, Delta Force: LW, and SimGolf to name a few. Again, I'm sure someone has better information, but I don't see how the file system could effect the playability of a game. Best of luck and have a great weekend. |

I am not a gamer either. NTFS can be a little slower then FAT32, bu tif you disable the indexing service that speed difference is very hard to notice.
I can't imagine why any application would have problems with a pparticular file system. It's the OS that does all the dealing with those issues. 2000 itself is not as friendly towards games as XP but with all the Service Packs installed it has gotten much better. I would have to have some very compelling reason to choose FAT32 over NTFS. I don't use the 9X OSs anymore so I haven't found a reason to not to use NTFS on all of my systems. |
