Boom Win XP Hangs On Startup

Hi my system is as follows:

1.8ghz p4
512mb ddr RAM
2x40gb harddrives
Asus BD7 motherboard
geforce mx 100/200 video card
Window xp
Mcafee Virus scanner
sygate personel firewall
Ethnet network

Basically every time i start windows xp, it gets to the desktop hangs for about 3-4 minutes and then decides it will load my system tray and desktop picture/icons.

I have a feeling it has something to do with the network, but it doesn't matter whether its pluged in or not, it still response in the same way!

Any ideas guys?

I belive that it is searching for any networked computers, can't find any and goes ahead and finishes loading.

If you have a static IP, you can set it in Network connections.

First on the next boot
Disable McAffee -
Disable the Firewall
Then restart and look if it is still the same - you can try to logon to Safe Mode - instead and check if it's still hanging.. but I honestly not believe that it is the Network card - Remove the card from the computer and you will know - I mean pull it out...
