Administrative Tools
When I go into Control Panel and double click Admnistrative Tools, nothing happens. Meaning I can not open it for some reason. Is there some option locking me down somwhere? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yes I have admin permission. Maybe somewhere there was an option for turning on and off accessing administrative tools somewhere. Also, this is just a hypothesis of why i keep on getting a pesky error 1606.

I did exactly what it told me to do at the link, but now it gives me error 1606 %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools. Thats what i used to replace the old registry string.

Is your Admin Tools displayed in ALL PROGRAMS?
If not try this: Left click START then PROPERTIES then click START MENU then click CUSTOMIZE then click ADVANCE then SCROLL DOWN and look for the SYSTEM ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS and click DISPLAY ON ALL PROGRAMS MENU and START MENU. Click OK. Then check if it will show up. HTH! |

How do I go about deleting my user account? Will I have to reinstall all those drivers and whatnot for my scanner, my vid card etc?

You won't have to reinstall the stuff.
Just go to Start > Logoff, then hit CTRL+ALT+DEL (probably twice), log in as Administrator, go to control panel, user accounts, remove your account. If you want to make sure things are saved, make a copy of C:\Documents and Settings\username folder first. You can then copy things back after you recreate your user account. |
