Question

I have 2 desktop systems and 1 laptop system. All three are conected via 10 base T network cable and Linksys LNE 10/100 Net Cards with a Kingston 5 port Net Hub. Two systems operate with Windows 98 SE and one with Windows ME. I am useing the Microsoft TCP-IP Protocall and Microsoft Client for MS Networks. On all three systems have have all the drives maped (Network Drives) with one another. What I don't understand is how ME behaves when I reboot and the OS re etsablishes network settings. ME opens multiple windows for EVERY DRIVE MAPPED ! What a PAIN ! Does Microsoft now this little Bug ?? !! sorry I mean FEATURE !

Thanks

I think you have something weird going on as I have 7 drives at worked mapped on ME and it doesn't open all the windows on boot.

I get the same thing, and about once a week ME drops the network settings, and to restore them I have to open the network dialogue, remove the workgroup name, type it in again, reboot, and all is well. That's like the fourth bug I have found in this damn OS. I should have kept 98.

Maped Drives opening with ME

Hello
HAL9000 I must say thanks for your Dos Prompt fix for ME it realy works well. I must say I just purcahased a 4th computer (A gateway P-III 733 MHZ machine) I got it seeing my network and ME does the exact same thing. Sometimes during boot up ME will stop abd prompt me for my network log in dialog box and sometimes when I reboot I will not get the networking dialog box and it boots straight into the OS opening up multiple windows in a tile (like Sysedit opens the sys files) and I have a window open for K to X Drive. (I am running ME on a Compaq Deskpro Pentium II 350 and on a gateway Pentium III 733) and get the exact same results. Also I posted another question on the networking forum too.
