Problem in Booting

Dear Friends at PCMech,

I have 2 HDD -one with 17 GB and another with 10GB.
I have installed win 98 in first HDD and Win XP on another one with dual booting option. Due to some reason, suddenly my XP stopped working and it goes on rebooting when tried to start with XP. Later I reinstalled XP bu the same problem repeated. But I found one extra entry for Xp in the boot option screen. One for win98 and 2 entries for win XP. Is there any way I can remove one invalid entr? Please help me.

Another thing is my Win xp got corrupted 3 times within this year. I shut down correctly and my HDD is also healthy. Is there any specific reason. Can anybody help??

Regards

You might want to format the drive that XP is on and just reinstall it again. A good way to dual boot is to make the 10 gig harddrive you have into three partitions. Two paritions that take about 25% of the harddrive each and the other one will have the remaining 50%. Install XP on the first 25% partition and 98 on the second 25% partition. Use the remaining 50% partition for software and applications such as Microsoft Office. The 17 gig harddrive should then be reformatted and used to store games and data such as documents or music. This is just merely a suggestion though. Do what you think is best. Good luck!
