any of you must have been feeling dizzy when you got a new IDE hardrive or cdrom installed because it changes the letter of your drives.
for example if you've 2 partition on the first drive and when you add for another , the result may be unexpected. while 'd:' is becoming 'e:'. unlikely In W2K and XP, we have the storage controller in administrative tools (cmiiw), so, is there any of you have suggestion how to handle the changing letter? AFAIK, win9x/me don't provide the option as well as w2k or XP |

Win98 does allow you to re-letter the drives...to a point.
If you have the option, before you install any games that need a CD in, re-letter the CD-ROM (and CDRW and DVD if you have them) to letters further down the alphabet, that way, they won't change if you add partitions/drives. I like to use R for CD Reader, W for CDRWriter, and V for dVd. |

I am doing this from memory, as all my machines are XP now, so I think it's in Control Panel, System, Device mangler, select device, properties...
