compaq presario 7222, no mouem after fdisk and format
hello slingslingbinks here again. i thought that i would post a new thread on this. it's simular to the other one. so not to confuse anyone on this. i did a fdisk and format and lost the driver's for the mouem. i went to compaq's web site and downloaded 2 driver's to a cd-rom, with another computer. now when i load the co-rom and try to open the driver's there is a message that comes up that say's, error: the drive that you are unpacking to is write protected. i have win. 98 installed and i have tried several times to get it into setup to see if i can change this. ant idea's out there tks slinger

Copy the driver from the CDR to the hard drive, then run it. When you go to unpack (run) a Compaq driver, it tries to unpack into the same drive/folder as the original, and you can't unpack to a CDR

Yes, I know. Copy the file directly to the hard drive, THEN double click it.

Go to my computer then double click on the cdrom drive that the driver is in. Then highlight the files and then right click on one of the highlighted icons and click on copy. Then go to the desktop and click on the right mouse button and click paste. Then execute the files from the desktop! Good luck!
