Boom graphic card powers down my computer

please help,
my graphic card works fine on my computer in windows 98/me but when i upgrade to xp pro the monitor powers down and shuts down my computer?
the card is a sparkle geoforce2 mx 64mg with a belkin monitor

Did you upgrade or do a clean install?

Check the power-managment options, make sure the video card is seated good, check everything in the BIOS.
