Windows Installer Error
I am trying to install Logitech Wingman Software ws420enu.exe which is the XP update for the Wingman Extreme Digital 3d joystick. When installing the update software, Windows Installer stops and can't find 'Wingman Software.msi' I have been told by Logitech email support that this is a matter for Windows Installer. I don't see anything in the Information Files and Getting support from Microsoft is a zoo. I have searched for this file on my hardrive and in the update software itself to no avail.
I am running XP pro with SP1 installed. Can anybody help please or send me to a place that can. Thanks, doug (hodunwun)

Thanks for responding Andy. I don't know about if it has a set up program. The software that came with the joystick version 3.25 was rejected by xp. Logitech assures me that the stick is compatible with xp with the update ws420enu.exe installed. It was during this installation that Windows Installer stopped the installation. Please send details. How do I find out if this update has a setup program? Thanks

Andy,
After extracting files, Windows Installer says, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click ok to try again (same thing happens ie I get back to this page I am describing)or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package Wingman Software.msi' in the box below." Below is a typical brouse window with a path ending at 'Wingman CD" I have put the cd [version 3.25 that came with the joystick and was rejected by xp saying the software was not compatible with xp] back in the cd drive and broused it but no msi' file was found. Also searched my hd and found none. That is it. Got any clues? Thanks for your attention. Doug |
