Oops.. I broke WMP
Yeah, of all the media players available, I decide to take liking to a Microsoft P.O.S... anyway..
I'm a big codec person... wether it be Mp3 and Ogg Vorbis, or DivX and MPEG, I do alot of encoding. Seemingly, while cleaning up my system and removing the Radium MP3 Codec (an illegal hack i was unaware of) I seem to have broken the mp3 playing capabilities of my Windows Media Player. I have reinstalled the newest version of this Player many times, but to no avail. I reboot my computer, and even reinstalled the Radium codec for kicks, but no matter what I do, Media Player tells me the file is not a supported type. Real Player handles the file perfectly. Is it possible to fix my problem without reinstalling Windows? (I don't want to do that, because the repair function clears all the updates I've installed, and on a 28k modem, I'd rather not redo all that) |

It may take a bit of downloading, but if you go to the MS updates site, and choose the update (even if it's already installed), install it again, you should get back the functionality.
You may also manually get any updates from http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...corporate=true |
