I am experiencing a variety of problems. Two weeks ago I did a clean install of Win2kPro. Yesterday I finished installing all my additional software (MSWord, MSVC++6, Starband software, The list goes on and on).
First problem, when I try to use Help in an Explorer window, it hangs the machine and I have to use the task manager to kill it. Second problem I tried inserting the Win2k CDRom to add other windows components and it says that my current version of windows is older and asks me if I want to upgrade to Win2kPro. Anyone know what the heck is going on? P.S. I have downloaded all MS updates. |

When I try and let setup run I get the following message:
Fatal error! Setup cannot create a temp. folder Setup cannot continue. Looks like I'm screwed! Unless one of you geniuses out there know of a fix. I am at a loss. |

I am usually real good about not letting to many things build up in my startup folder or in the sys tray, but I did find some extras that I have now deleted.
Under Starup: Microsoft Office Deleted PowerReg Scheduler Deleted MS Works Reminders Deleted ZoneAlarm In the sys tray: Intellpoint Starband Mission Control ZoneAlarm I have deleted the MS Office, MS works Scheduler, and the PowerReg Scheduler. P.S. I had no Idea what PowerReg Scheduler was so after a Google search found out it was a registration reminder, so I deleted it from the startup also. |

when you did the clean install, did you allow W2k to format the drive over the original system or did you install AFTER formatting the drive yourself.
i`ve found that even if you try to clean install with a previous windows version installed remnants of the previous install will still be around. hence your current version of windows is older message. my suggstion; save what data you can and then wipe the drive with a utility such as Eraser http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/ format and reinstall w2k sounds drastic but it does work. |
