I was wondering, does win 98, or xp require that there is a boot.ini to start windows? Here is the reason I ask. I currently have a triple boot system, win98se, win2k, and winxp. Currently I have the boot.ini that i use to select which operating system to start. Well, I have found a boot loader that I like (XOSL) and I want to remove all the components that windows uses to make the system multi boot so XOSL can do it's job correctly. Win98se is the master IDE0 primary drive. Win2k and winxp are on a second (IDE0 Slave) drive split equally into seperate Partitions. I want to remove the Boot.ini information so I can use XOSL to choose which operating system to start with out being encountered with additional Boot.ini menus and confusions. What do I need to remove from all installed operating systems to allow the addon bootmanager to boot my os's without any problems?
Any help is greatly appreciated Jeremy |

Although your link was helpful, it did not specifically answer my question. My problem is after I choose an operating system to start with XOSL, Depending on the OS, i get the standard windows multiboot screen that would normally show if I did not have XOSL loaded. How can I prevent this Windows boot selector (boot.ini presumably) from being loaded after i choose an operating system to start with XOSL.
Thanks for any help Jeremy |
