Ask again about unhandeled exemption
This is really bothering me. Ive tried all sorts of things, but nothing seems to help. Every time Windows xp starts up, I get a pop up stating Unhandeled Exemption c0000005 at address 100016b8. How can I tell what address 100016b8 belongs to?
I uninstalled several apps that were not used. I may have said yes to shared folders, cant really remember. I also updated my sound driver, and video drivers trying to get NASCAR 2002 Season to work better. Anyway, I ended up doing a system restore to a date before the apps were uninstalled. Now I have this pop up. Any ideas? |

Hi mountaineer
Since you have Windows XP, you can try a "repair" installation of the OS. The Registry might be a bit full of odds and ends with the old Registry entries for the programs that you uninstalled reinstated from System Restore. You'll also regain any files that might still be needed and possibly accidentally uninstalled. But that probably isn't the cause of your Stop error (. . . is it a Stop error, followed by the unhandled exception message? . . . ). You can go to the Administrative Tools when logged in with Administrator priviledges, and check the Event logs (look at System Errors and Application Errors). Try to find one that coincides with the error message you're receiving. Right-click and choose Properties to see the details of the error. It will offer to send an error report to Microsoft, and usually provide a link to Microsoft's support site: checking to see if there have been any patches, workarounds, or fixes for the error you're seeing. And here's a link to a MS Knowledge Base article that describes in more detail what happens when you use XP's error reporting (in case you're unsure of it's safety, privacy, etc): http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;314103 Best of luck, . . . I did a Google search and you arn't the only one with this error.
I'd reinstall the software and see if the problem goes away. I didn't find anything on the MS Knowledge base about it. |

Believe it or not, Microsoft Picture It! had some how attached itself with Outlook express' spell checker. I only figured it out when I sent an e-mail and it said something about not finding Picture It instead ou spell checking my outgoing message. Whew, I looked and tried everything for days.... Just thought Id share.
