new to networking and just got a new job as an admin asst (and also the IT dept for about 25 computers). I just installed 2 new win2k servers to replace the Novell 3.12. What are the correct network settings (clients, services and protocols)? And what is the access control all about? I can't figure out what they mean by shared access and user level? Thanks. |

Hi wigs
Might want to try this question over in the networking forum: it's a pretty big question, more Win2k Server oriented than Win98. There are a lot of things to take into consideration when setting up a server: especially with what Microsoft likes to call "Downlevel clients" (client PCs running older versions of Windows like Win98) . . . Win2k prefers DNS, the older Win98 likes to lean on NetBios: stuff like that. The networking gurus know all the details. Take that stuff one step at a time & you'll get there. Best of luck . . .
