Home SP1 XPerience

I found a couple of inconsistencies in running Win XP Home SP1, that I figured I'd run past the group, to see if anyone has encountered the same.
1. If you run chkdsk from disk management (properties, tools) in other words, the graphical version, it reports no errors. (disk graphic also reports 'healthy disk')
If however you run it from the command line chkdsk c: you will get:
Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap
Windows found problems with the file system.
Run Chkdsk with the /F (fix) option to correct these.
But it won't let you run it /F , because it can't lock the drive, with processes running, so it prompts you to run it upon reboot. So you do, it runs through it fast, does not give you an indication that it found or corrected anything.... Got to read fast here, because the screen doesn't pause. And piping the output to a file with a redirect, using a command line parameter doesn't work at this point either...
2. You right click on My Computer pull up properties, and in the RAM area you see what you expect: Total physical memory = total physical ram – (ram dedicated to the video adapter). Now... check “System Information” and it tells you your “Total Physical Memory is only 128 MB, but your Available Physical Memory is 212 MB. BTW the machine has over 400 MB ddr running on it avail to the OS.
I'm very curious at this point. For those of you that know I also run an alternate OS, there is no interaction on the drives... I'm booting the alternate with a floppy, it resides upon it's own drive, and windows device manager is set to ignore that physical drive....

I haven't seen any of those inconsistencies that you are seeing granted I'm running the PRO version, but I don't think that would be a factor.

Running XP Home SP1 here without any issues as you have encountered.
