Outlook slowing down network access
I have a client that has an issue with one box on her win2k system. When Outlook is on, the network access is at a crawl on this one system. We're talking about 30-45 seconds to open a copy of a word document on what is being used as the server. With outlook off, the access is very fast on the same unit.
The office uses a microsoft mail store, on the unit being accessed as a server. Outlook connects to this mail store, but gets email directly off the web ISP mail server.
As best as I can determine, Outlook is using many of the network connection handles so the regular access to the server is significantly slowed down. I have looked at some things mentioned on the Microsoft website, but it mentions PST files being accessed over the network. This machine has the PST files local. But, there is access to a microsoft mail post office over the LAN. None of the other machines have seen the issue when connecting to the microsoft mail post office.
With no outlook open, file access is fast.
Any ideas?
