Past Items in Taskbar

Does anyone know how to clean the "Past Items" from the task bar?

Right click on the taskbar and go to properties then to Start menu > customize and then hit the clear list.

Thanks Jimmie, but there still there. This is the taskbar I'm speaking of, not the Start Menu.

OK, then I'm a bit lost here, do you mean items in the quick launch bar or items in the notification area?

I right clik my taskbar, clik properties, clik Customize. Abox pops up called Cusomize Notifications. It has Current Items, these are OK. Then it has Past Items. I want to get rid of the past items.
