WinXP formatting

My friend has an older IBM notebook that he put WinXP Pro. It is running rather slowly, and he wants to put Win98 back on. How do you format the hard drive with Win XP on it to put another OS on it?

Thanks

You don't need to. Simply boot from the Windows 98 CD, and you can reformat the HD during installation.
