This is childish but, I am so bored with my XP desktop
I want there to be new and fun sounds with human voice or voice of robot that would create an illusion that my computer is kind of like a person I interact with. Maybe something with voice of HAL9000 or whatever. Any suggestions?

Hal is great
I used to use Hal ,but tired of him also. It depends on your level of expertise on what you can achieve. But no matter what, you can make it better.
At this site, u can type in the sentences you want to play back: http://www.bell-labs.com/project/tts/voices.html A bunch here: http://www.att.net/cgi-bin/webdrill?...eech_Synthesis There are also a lot of sites with wav files that already have HAl's voice etc... just do a search for wav files, there are a lot of movie themes. Just go to control pan and open sounds and audio... and you can make some neat changes there. Windows startup could be Hal saying " goodmorning Dave..." or whatever Depending on whitch ISP you use, yopu can change that connection sound also, it usually pretty easy. Just go to your ISP and ask support. There are a whole assortment of themes out there that really do a much better job then MS desktop themes, at least I think so, I just need to locate the ones I have used. This here will change the boot screen when you log on, and is faily easy to use, its for xp. http://www.radfiles.com/logonloader/ take a loo at these sites to find some desk top mods. u will have ti hunt around but they are there. http://www.deskmod.com/ http://www.razorart.com/ http://www.razorart.com/ It takes some work but the outcome is well worth it! No more boring ! good luck |

Are all Hal saying one thing or another. Go to GOOGLE and type in WAV FILES and do a searc and you will come up with 100's of them. At wav cent. I believe they are in mp3 format, and you will have to convert them to wav format, to be able to use them in sounds and audio devices in the comtrol panel. I believe you can "only" use wav files there. Someone else may be able to say for sure. Go here to get a free converter http://www.mediamatrixes.com/ its called easy mp3 to wav. And had good directions. If u have trouble getting any of this togeather write back. |

try this link, there are about 30 of them here, with a short discription. I don't kno why bell isn't working. I even went to see if the site was still up before I sent it to you. But I did not try it. I would try it again later. It seems as though they would take the site down if they wern't going to keep it working. |
