need help desperatly
I recently used a windows xp disk from a former build to load it on my pc just to try it out. I formatted and erased 98se and installed windows xp. All is fine and dandy but now im in a bit of a bind. I can't reinstall 98 using the recovery disk that came with my computer. I went into the bios, set it to boot from cd. It came up with the screen saying if I continue it would format blah blah blah, so I hit continue. Then I get a flashing screen saying WRONG MACHINE. Im assuming its because I replaced the mobo, and processor. Now what? I have the recovery disk and I now know all the passwords for the files on it. Is there some other way I can get 98se back on my computer?

You might try using the Win98 start-up floppy. Set to boot from Floppy A and at the "A" prompt type format C once formatted you can set BIOS to boot from CD and you should be able to boot & install 98 from there. Trudy |

Nope. A recovery CD will only recognize the hardware it was intended for. You basically have a different computer now, and the recovery CD will not work.
Either install XP, and pay for it, or go purchase Windows 98 somewhere. |
