Unhappy installed memory

I installed an extra 128 meg.s of pc100 sdram on my computer and even though my computer recognizes it when I look at my system resources the numbers are the same as before installing the new memory . HELP !

Hi fillo, welcome to the PC Mech forums!

I believe this is a bug in Win9x (that it won't count added memory), but it's been a while since I've used it so I'm not completely sure.

Adding more RAM to a system won't increase your system resources...those are two totally different things. If you want to increase your system resources, you have to reduce the number of background programs you have running on your system. If you're using Win98 or WinME, you can use msconfig to turn off any background program that is starting up with Windows.

You can check how much memory is Win98 recognizing by pressing Winkey+Break. The System Properties will appear and you can see there how much memory is Win98 recognizing.

Thanks Cricket , I am running windows M E , I read , I usee the light and I guess the only solution is to upgrade my O.S. to XP .
