blue screen - reinstall??

I've just tried to install Roxio GoBack on my XP pc but on reboot I've got the dreaded blue screen and can't seem to escape it. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem and get rid of Roxio (as I'm sure this was the cause of the problem) without having to reinstall all over again. I would be happy to do that as I had any unbacked up info in D but somewhere along the way C and D seem to have merged (that's what the reinstall screen is telling me) and I'd rather not reformat and lose it all. Honestly don't know how I lost the D partition but I did.
Please help!
Craig.

one idea

could I make a partition and install xp there - then back up my important docs before formatting the other drives and removing roxio that way? very round about but would it work?
