Disk is write protected
After converting C and D drive to NTFS I can no longer copy any files to my floppy drive. I get;
Cannot copy xxxxxxxx: The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk. I have tried several different floppys.(removed protection) Is it saying that C or D drive is write protected???

It shouldn't matter that you converted your HDs' to NTFS, but what about trying to format a floppy disk? I'm sure you know that little tab window is to be closed to enable writing to floppies. If no luck, I wonderif the drive is actually dirty or going bad. Can you READ floppies that have data on them??

I've replaced the drive with a known good one and tried at least a dozen different floppies.

John;
Glad to hear you tracked it down, i don't ever recall seeing a setting in any of the PC bois's I have encountered that can do that, which doesn't mean it isn't there, I 've just never noticed, so I am glad too that I have learned something new |
