PREVIOUSLY WHEN I QUIT FROM INTERNET EXPLORER OR OUTLOOK EXPRESS I GOT A SMALL BOX UP ASKING IF I WANTED TO REMAIN CONNECTED OR DISCONNECT.
FOR SOME REASON THIS HAS NOW DISAPPEARED - IT WAS PARTICULARALY USEFUL TO REMIND THE KIDS TO DISCONNECT !!! I BELIEVE IT DISAPPEARED WHEN I UPGRADED FROM IE5 TO IE6 ON THE WINDOWS UPDATE SITE. ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN TURN IT BACK ON?? I AM RUNNING WINDOWS ME / IE6 & OUTLOOK EXPRESS 6 THANKS IN ANTICIPATION |

I'm not sure if you can get the popup window back, but if you want to simply auto-disconnect when you close IE, try the following:
click on tools/internet options and click on the connections tab. click the button that says settings. at the bottom of the "my connections settings" window you will find a button thqat says advanced. in the next window check the box that says "disconnect when connection may no loger be needed"... hope this helps |

Hi Paul and welcome;
I had same problem on my Mom'sPC and also couldn't save password anymore after IE6 upgrade, came here and was suggested to use microsoft family logon found under network properties> logon type and it works again. She just clicks IE and automatically dials out and connects and gets that little disconnect box again if she closes the btrowser down. BTW- They kind of frown on typing your Posts in all caps, it's bad forum etequitte. THANKS! KTK

Sorry about the CAPS thing -
Tried your suggestion Re. network properties - only options I get are Client for Microsoft networks or Windows logon - tried both and it made no difference. Anyone else have an idea?? |

It seems like it might be possible that your ISP's software is involved. You could try backing up your email, etc . . . and reinstalling your ISP software & see if the reminder popup is back.
Or - check the Preferences/Options in your ISP software. You can probably tell I'm just guessing (but I'm on a lucky guessing streak this week) . . . Gary |
