startup programs

hi:

win98se:
under system config utility: startup: several program are loading.

scan registry
load power profile

anyone knows what these do and do they have to startup on their own.

Hi glenrose,

You should leave the ScanRegistry and SystemTray entries enabled in msconfig/Startup. The Load Power Profile is really only for laptops power saving features and if your computer is a desktop you can disable the 2 entries (there are usually 2 Load Power Profile entries listed).

Explains how you can turn off all entries in msconfig, including power profiles, and systray.
