Rundll & Rundll32.exe Missing
One of the pc's says it can't find rundll32.exe . Yep, it's gone and can't even find it on the Win98 CD. Something wiped it out but why isn't it on the CD so I can restore? Hidden?

Hi Sarge,
If you type that in at the MS Knowledge base, I think it comes up with a fix. Also type it in Google. There is alot of info there. Carl Last edited by Kubie; 01-08-2003 at 08:28 PM. |

Carl, it says use DOS to extract the rundll from the cd, except when I type the extract command, it says it can't be run from DOS. I had tried running SFC and found nothing missing, THEN I found that SFC uses run32dll to run itself. Doh! Guess I'll try copying it from another pc and dropping it into the System32 file. Didn't think of that.

That was one of the symptoms of the Sircam virus, for which you can get the scan and fix utility on symantec's website. if you have Sircam then rundll is still there, just that the virus has hosed up where to find it when exe's need it to run.
