xp installation problems with ecs motherboard
i am having problems installing windows xp home edition on my new pv4vxasd2 motherboard. windows 98 and 2000 will install and run correctly with this board. the xp installation stalls, when it is installing devices, then i recieve an error message. it says something about a hardware error. i also tried to check system compatibility with the xp home edition software, and i receive this error:
Hardware That Might Need Additional Files The following hardware might need additional files in order to work with Windows XP. Contact your hardware vendors to obtain Windows XP compatible updates. In many cases, if a Windows XP version is not yet available, a Windows 2000 compatible update should work. It is recommended that you obtain these drivers in advance. You can also view the Microsoft Windows XP Hardware Compatibility List on the Web. Please note that some of the following entries might be software that is registered as hardware. Sound, video and game controllers VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller (WDM) Universal serial bus controller VIA PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller i have updated all my drivers, and still have this problem. if anybody could help it would be appreciated |

Sounds like you have gotten windows up and running to be able to update your drivers. My thoughts that if you are actually stalled on installation though is to disable sound and usb via the bios for now, get win xp up and running error free, then enable one at a time and work on sound and usb.
