win98se and a large hdd?

i have a 80g hdd and i'm wanting to know how to get win98 to let it run. ps i want to leave my 8g hdd in and run the 80g it as a slave. thanks

Check the jumpers on it, install it, fdisk it and format it using a Win98 startup diskette.
Win98 will recognize it on the next boot.

ok when i fdisk how can u tell which drive i'm fdisking? when i did reboot it it starts to scandisk and doesn't go any farther? i don't want to looose all data on the 8g drive.

Hit option #4 in fdisk, to view partition info, that will tell you what drive you're on.
Change to the other disk if needed using option #5, which will also tell you about what each drive is.
Your current boot disk will be disk 1, and the other will be disk 2.

Have you tried to ressurect it with the manufacturer's tools?
How about Spinrite?
There's usually some way to recover the lost data...

just wanted to tell u i got it back!!!! i downloaded a repair tool from western digital....and it running like a champ!!! thanks agian!!
