Question What is accessing my floppy when XP starts up?

Hi,
When XP starts, just as it is leaving the black screen and going to the desktop the floppy light comes on. The only things starting on startup is ZoneAlarm, NAV 2002, and the ATI control panel for my video card. I've looked in Norton and I don't see anything about accessing my floppy at startup, it did have the option for not checking the floppy at shutdown. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening or does XP do this?
TIA

It's NAV, checking to see if you're booting from floppy, and then it will check the floppy before allowing a read operation. You should be able to edit the autoexec.bat and config.sys to remove the lines referring to NAV.

Thanks reboot, I thought it had something to do with NAV. When I edit those lines will it still check the rest of the system at startup, or is that even necessary?

With NAV running in startup anyhow, you don't need it to do a DOS scan of the floppy before Windows loads. You only lose the protection of a possibly infected floppy disk, nothing else will be affected. NAV will still work as normal.
