how to put swap and temp on a different partition?

How do you make it so that the swap file and temp files are all on a different partition? I tried this once and it ended up not many things worked very well so i have been too scared to try again..

Cheers

To set swap file:
Right click My Computer, Properties, Advanced tab, Performance, Advanced, Virtual memory. Set it there to whatever partition you want, and whatever size you want.
To set IE's temp/cookies:
Open IE, click Tools, Internet Options, Under Temporary internet files, click Settings, Move folder. Move it to wherever.

Which XP doesn't have/need/use at all...or shouldn't, unless some crappy piece of bloatware has to load something through DOS before windows loads. (Does Norton AV come to mind?)
If you want the actual Windows temp folder on the other partition, then you would set it up in autoexec.bat

Moving your swap file to a different logical drive on the same disk won`t help at all but could slow things down by causing the R/W heads to do more work.

Moving it to a different physical drive will help or splitting it among several physical drives is even better.
