Upgrade Win2K to XP

I don't really want any comments like "It's not worth upgrading" as I've read enough about that, it's just I have a couple of games that will run on XP and not 2K.

Just wondering about your EXPERIENCES with the UPGRADE, the aftermath etc.

It is Windows 2000 --> Windows XP upgrade I'm considering

Thanks

I myself have not gone through that upgrade path, but my wife did, non issue, her only complaint was it was too easy (huh?! MSCE's..... what can I tell you)

You already have a machine that will run the software so that is not an issue, personally, I'd back up the important stuff, and let it rip with a complete install instead of an upgrade.

i only have bad experience with the XP upgrade, ok so it installs XP 100% well. but the mess it leaves your programs in usually means that its quicker just to back up and fresh install.

I've done a ton of 98 > XP upgrades (from fresh 98 installs) and they work as well as a fresh XP install.
I don't see how the upgrade would screw with your programs, except things that are stored in "My Documents" will now be stored in c:\Documents and settings\username\My Documents

Win2K Pro to Xp Home you would have to do a freh install anyway, since "Windows XP does not support upgrading from Windows 2000...."

I am considering going the same way myself. Running Win2K Pro SP3 now, plan to go on to XP Home or Pro (better).

Ah yes, you must have XP Pro to upgrade Win2k Pro. The home version won't do it.
