is it there and just greyed out not usable,or is it just not there at all.if it is greyed out Check under Control Panel and look For TweakUI. And in there is an option to hide drives. If this had been enabled it will do this

Quick Fix: right click and drag one of the available icons on to your start menu, thence to your Programs group and select "Copy Here" from the Menu that appears when you release.

You just probably dragged it to the desktop by mistake.

I'm guessing that open isn't available either. If it's TweakUI that is involved, make sure that all drives are "checked" (all the drive letters from A to Z have checkmarks in the boxes). You'll find the list of drives in the "My Computer" tab in TweakUI.

Not sure what causes this otherwise. Installing TweakUI and using their "fix" might work. Then the question becomes why the behavior began in the first place. So far I haven't seen any explanation that doesn't involve TweakUI as the source.

Best of luck

[philip - just saw your post. Is it possible to drag an action/option item from an option box? . . . ]

Hi GaryRouth

Sorry, just this moment saw the "right-click" part of the post. Not paying enough attention I guess.

Sorry for the trouble.

Just to check that it is not the mouse (doesn't sound like it can be from what you said), try this:

Press Ctrl-Escape (brings up the start menu)

Press Shift-F10 (the actual command that the right mouse click issues)

That should bring up the 'Open / Explore / Find' (or similar) menu that you get by right clicking the start button.

HTH,

David.
