Fatal Exception

Everything working well, but recently I frequently get Fatal Exception OE 0028:BFF8812 on Shut Down. Where is it coming from and how do I correct?
Thank you
Fred

Did newme's fix hit the target?

In case you don't have a Gateway system, there are other things that cause such errors. The Gateway fix, in fact, looks like it alters some behavior by the Norton AntiVirus that comes with their systems.

Here's a link that offers some interesting things to try; I can't verify that they work since I haven't tried them myself = so make backups before using any of their fixes. The section that refers to your error is the last on the webpage, and begins "If you are receiving the following error messages"
http://www.zaxscd.bizland.com/pctips/

Part of the fixes involve a floppy search by Norton AV, and Norton's DOS auto-protect message. They also mention the shutdown patch from Microsoft (though it usually involves new, fast hard drives with large cache - it mostly disables "fast shutdown", and gives the drives a few extra seconds to flush the data from their write buffers).

Best of luck
. . . Gary
