Windows XP CTRL-ALT-DEL
I liked the Menu I got when I gave Windows 2000 the three finger salute
In XP however it chucks me straight into Task Manager, I liked the option of being able to 'lock' my machine. (CTRL-ALT-DEL then L), how do I do this in XP or is a screensaver password my only option? So how do I get my menu back, or has it gone forever? Thanks, Jim

Winkey+L should still lock it. In a lot of ways the window in Win2k was redundant .. when usually a C-A-D is done in dire situtations .. stopping a misbehaving program .. so I thot it made snese to cut to the chase and give the task manager immediately.

If you go into control panel and users! you need to change the way that the user logs on! this will give you a different log on screen on start up! and then when u Ctrl+Alt+Del in windows it will give you the same commands that Window NT and 2K does! if you need any advice drop us aline!

Thanks very much for that, the Winkey + L, if that works, will be exactly what I'd like
I don't mind the welcome screen, it is actually quite welcoming Jim |

I thought the Ctrl + Alt + Del to Log on in Window 2000 is one way not to activate any Virus or Trojan that was acquired?

Hey Jim,
Zerooverdrive meant that if u go into users, you can password protect your name so nobody else can go into your account unless your password is in. He didnt mean remove the welcome screen. HTH P_G |

Thanks for that but I already do have my log on screen set up so you need a password
And I think it may be you who has misunderstood, P_G ![]() I think he meant to change the welcome screen to the normal (2K style) logon screen, and this would bring back my menu when I hit C-A-D What do you reckon? Jim |

I have my computers setup to Logon and Off like 2000 did. C-A-D brings up the same options as it did in 2000. Unfortunately none of the keyboards I like or use have the winkey so I still do things the old fashioned way.
