How do I stop certain programs from starting up when Windows starts. I know how to do it in 98. I can't figure it out with 2000.

There is no MSCONFIG in Windows 2000. There are several programs on the net you can download to stop programs from running at start up. One of them is start up cop which works well. You can also use the settings of the programs that are running at start up, and disable them from running at start up.

Many ways to do this (as many ways as there places Win2K hides things it starts up). SYSTEM.INI & WIN.INI both still exist (to maintain backward compat)
Check your registry: (looking for Run, RunOnce, RunOnceEx subkeys) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ etc etc etc Luck to you |
