Norton AV couldn't fix this..........
Norton program gave me a warning about a virus in............
C:\WINDOWS\TemporaryInternetFiles\Content.IE5\S1UFCH27\autobookmark[1].js Suggested that I repair but couldn't do it Suggested that I quarantine but couldn't do it Suggested that I delete but couldn't do it Suggested that I ignore it and not open it..........Wouldn't fix problem but won't spread it. There is one more that it warned me about with the same outcome. It is also content in the TIF, in WINDOWS. Are these anything to worry about? How can I avoid opening them? I don't know what they are. What should I do? |

I wouldn't worry too much about reparing files in the "temporary internet folder". I think you should try clearing it, though.
In IE, got to "tools" > "internet options" > under "temporary internet files, click "delete files".

It's been over a year since I got one of those, I believe I located the file with find and deleted it manually

I got a virus just last week that DISABLED Norton. I could'nt run a virus scan, or anything like that. It turned off auto protect and email scanning, I when I tryed to turn them back on a got a script error message. It also changed my display properties and when I tryed to change those back I had the same problem. I guess my mom was using the computer when she found the virus and ran a can with something and it told her what the virus was, thats they only reason I know it was there because I couldn't find it or anything, so I finally reinstalled win98.

You must take advantage to the NAV updates on a regular basis.

I have seen people caught out with NAV, even if they get regular updates. Depends how regular I guess. In any case, AVG from www.grisoft.com saved the day where NAV was disabled by a virus. Sure beats a full reinstall.

I have my NAV set to auto U/D. Fact, not all software can handle the volume and diversity of the crap that's sent out over the net. Even though most of them are so close to the one that got everyone 15 months ago, it burrows in at a different place. or it uses a different ruse to get you to open it, goes dormant till "X" day and then slams everyone at once. Any little alteration to an old virus makes it just new enough for the software to ignore. When I first installed NAV 2 yrs. ago, I needed 3 rescue disks, I'm now filling 6 disks.
