Lightbulb Multi Boot System

Hi,

I’m posting this here because I see a lot of posts about multi boot systems and I think you may be interested in a partitioning tool called Partition Boot Manager from:
http://www.sadevelopment.com

My system is a Sony Vaio, Pentium III, One 80GB hard drive and 500MB of ram.

So far, I have 63 operating systems loaded, but I plan to add more hard drives soon.

No particular reason other than the challenge. I find it amazing that some people can't get just two systems to work, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'll try to attach the file as a zip since a bmp seems to be too large.

The Bash, KDE and Gnome are different shells in Linux.
Attached Files
File Type: zip operating systems disk1.zip (598 Bytes, 97 views)

Hi again,

I am using another neat program called Smart Boot Manager from this site....http://btmgr.sourceforge.net/

This utility has a cool feature called Drive Swapping. This has a GUI menu to allow you to select which hard drive is booted. You can even set which drive is booted by default.

Anywho, I now have 76 opertating systems installed and with these two utilities, one could install five hundred systems. Don't believe I will though. !!

Yeh, I guess you are right. This highly trained, over-the-hill, unemployed dude could use a life.

I didn't think that you could install 2000 server as anything other than the first O/S. At least, that's what my conclusion is after trying to install it as a 2nd O/S on 2 different systems.

Thumbs up

Well I tried a lot of different methods. I started out with Ranish Partition Manager which allows 32 primary partitions. That's pretty slick on a small scale. Big problem there is that you have to write the fat table down on paper and keep track of it yourself. Also, you can only have 4 visible partitions at a time.

With the Partition Boot Manager that I used, it completely hides all partitions but the one that you are working with. That means the systems can go anyplace on the hard drive. The one exception is older systems which have to be within the 1024 cylinder limit. That is they need to be located in the first 7.5GB of a big hard drive.

Also, this program fooled Win95,98 and Me into setting up on the C: partition because all of the other stuff was hidden and NON-DOS.

One really slick thing is that you can remove any operating system with out disturbing any of the other systems.
