Angry Fire unknown error?

I am working on a gateway select computer running windows ME. When the computer boots up it automatically shows Active desktop recovery on the desktop. Then when I click restore a windows dialog box appears saying "windows has caused an error in . Explorer will now close. It also sometimes shows an error that says Explorer has caused an error in JSCRIPT.DLL. Explorer will now close. It repeatedly shows this error it and it will not disappear it keeps poping up. I have checked the registry I runned a scandisk, it boots fine in safe mode. I also ran a scanreg /fix. It does not have a system restore file that dates back far enough for it to repair. Can someone please help?
