Modifying COM Ports

Have just added a PCI card with 2 additional serial ports to add to the ONE serial port on the Dell Desktop mobo. Windows ME has configured the ports as COM 5 & 6. The internal modem uses COM 3 and a Weather Station unit uses the physical SERIAL port (COM 1).

One of the extra serial ports is needed to connect a PALM PILOT. Unfortunately when the PALM PILOT is connected to the port, the SETUP s/w will only recognise COM 1-4.

So how do I get Windows to reconfigure COM 5-6 to use at least COM 2 or 4 so that the PALM PILOT will work, or get the SETUP in the PALM to recognise COM 5-6?

If you only have one physical external port on the computer, the palm must connect to that.
The only other way I can think of, is to modify the palm setup file to recognize ports 5 and 6 (usually "something.ini").
Can you not check with the manufacturer of the palm?
