Win 98se code key
I just built a computer for my father and used my win 98 disc to get it setup. Is there a way I can go in now and change the cd code key from mine to his? We both have our own registered copies of windows 98se. I tried to load my disc with his code key but it wouldn't work. I don't have his disc here....he lives about two hours away and it would save a lot of time is this is possible.
Thanks, hoemee |

Call him and have him read the # to you. That is the legal way.
Or copy your CAB files to his HD and if he ever needs the disk, he can get what he needs from there.

You can change the product key and product id in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/Microsoft/Windows/highlight current version and scroll down to product key, right click on it and select Modify and change it. Always back up your registry before making changes to it in case something goes wrong. You should change the ProductID to his as well to make it legal.

Thanks for the replies - I have his code key already - it would not work with my disc. I will also change the product id as well because I do want this to be legal.
