Boom Win2000 freezes

I have an Elite PC 1.2 GHz with 256 MB of RAM, running Win2000. This PC freezes approximatively once in 1-3 days. The mouse arrow freezes on the screen and the computer does not respond to anything. I contacted the Msft support and they made me install the crush dump s/w, the one where you press some keys after freeze and get a memory dump. The crush dump works when the PC is OK, but after freezing the PC is absolutely dead. Only the reset works. The Msft guy says that the only explanation is a hardware issue. I find it difficult to believe ...... Any idea?

Run performance monitor on it. If you have it networked, then monitor it from another computer. Monitor memory usage, hard drive pages, and processor time. This should narrow down if you have virtual memory, memory or processor problems.

Thanks, how do I run performance monitor from another computer? I have Linksys Cable-DSL router with several PCs connected, so I believe I can do it.
