Webcam help
Hi
I am using a Veo webcam(veo-connect). and my OS is windows XP. When I start using my webcam during my chat in Yahoo messenger, it workd fine initially for some time then picture gets frozen, then my yahoo messenger does not respond. I have to kill the messenger form program manager. If I use yahoo messenger with out the webcam.. it works fine. I thought that this is because of the webcam,So today i changed the webcam from Veo to Ezonics. even now the problem is the same. So now I am convinced that this is not a problem with the webcam. I think this is because of the new version of Yahoo messenger(5.5) or with the compatibilty of XP with the webcams( though both the webcams are compatibile with the XP). Could somebody give me some suggestion.. thanks ultra |

What motherboard, and how much RAM? What video card?
These are all factors in webcam use. As RAM fills up with each image (at about 15fps), the swap file is used. As the swap file gets filled, things get slower and slower until it freezes. If the video card is getting too hot trying to render the framerate of the cam, it can freeze. How many background programs you have running can make a huge difference, especially unneeded services. I really doubt that it's a problem with Yahoo, or XP's compatibility with cams, unless it's shoddy drivers that came with the cam. I've used Logitech and 3 com cams on XP with no troubles at all. |
