slow to run programs in windows WP Home
I'm having problems with probackgammon and dominoes and several other older games. When you run the programs nothing happens for several minutes, and then the program will run and run smoothly. I have tried various compatiblity settings with no apparent change. Some seem to correct themselves after several days. Shanghai is an example. Is this somehow related to prefetching, or to the directories in which the games are installing. Most of the ones I have problems with are being loaded to directories on the root drive. Thanks for any ideas. Sorry I seem to have somehow posted this in windows 98/me. Please redirect to the correct place.

 This only happens with old games?

They are games that used the older installer generally.

I should add that when installing the programs I am having trouble with no shortcuts are created.
