New Install Help For Xp Pro

Hello all, I am looking for some expert help on a installation of win xp pro. I have win 98 se now & I would like to install win xp pro. Can I just install over win 98 & all is well? Or should I wipe everything out first & then install? If this is the case how would i go about to wipe off win 98? I have my hd in 3 partitions & my os is on c partition, can I wipe out just the c partition or would it wipe out all of the 3 partitions? I am looking for the easiest way to do this with the least amount of problems. Thanks to all in advance for helping. SIXPK.

The best way is to do a clean install. The next best is to install XP to another partition.

Can I just clean out the "C" partition? If so how would I go about doing that after backing up the "C" partition? Thanks.

Boot to the XP cd and start the install, during the install delete the C: partition and then create a new C: partition (5-10 gigs) and format and install.
