Dual boot
How do you go about installing WinXP on a second HD. My father In-Law has two HD on his gateway but when he boots up only boots to the master. I told him he needs to buy a software program that lets him choose which one to boot too am I wright?
Also he wants to know if he can run two versions of WinXP on the system. I asked him why would he want to do that, he said that is what he wants to do.

You can run two versions of XP on the same system and there is no need for any extra software as XP has it's own bootloader that will allow you to boot to either OS. Just install the second OS on the other HDD.

It could even be the smae OS on different drives, their will always be a boot selection screen.

What about logging on as different users? Different user profiles allow the users to have different preferences, settings and access to given directories (ie folders containing written documents)
I would think that having 2 copies of XP would be redundant.

I know, I'm just making a point. I didn't expect anyone to actually do that.

I don't either, but you never know...
Remember hearing about the guy who sealed his tower, filled it with water, turned it on, and blew the breakers in his house? It was in the general forum a few days ago. Hee hee.

I myself won't install two copies on the same machine either but he wants it that way. |

I have 3 copies of XP on this computer. It's easier than you think.
Install one on a hard drive, make the drive slave, install another on the primary, partition, and install the 3rd on yet another partition, then add a beta OS on another drive, partition, and add Linux. Initially, you need to specify boot order in BIOS, but once you've got the last OS installed, the boot menu will appear on the drive that you designated as C originally. Maybe that's too confusing. It's easier to do than explain.
